Yes. And No.
Born out of the Civic Ecology workshops early in 2011 at Damascus City Hall, residents brainstormed and identified many great ideas of how to tackle some of the sustainability issues facing Damascus. They further narrowed those ideas down to 5 great projects that were sustainable, do-able, and that had good potential for enough volunteer support to turn into reality.
In order to accomplish the transition from brainstorm to reality, the non-profit group “Committee for the Future of Damascus” was transformed from one relating to city-building to one aimed at sustainablity. While the infrastructure was being transformed, new ideas where talked about and excitement is building.
